Diocesan Youth Vice President Lonjezo Chatupa of the Anglican Diocese of Lake Malawi says they plan to continue offering support and engaging in social responsibility activities in different communities.
Chatupa said they believe in complementing government efforts, hence their decision to carry out charity work at Nkhotakota District Hospital.
“We are not stopping our charity works. We believe in helping those in need and reaching the marginalized,” he said.
He added that for everything to be successful, they mobilize resources among themselves while envisioning greater impact in the future.
Meanwhile, Reverend Father George Chikadza, Youth Chaplain for Nkhotakota South Archdeaconry, urged young people to remain committed to charitable work in their communities.
“Let them be exemplary in their societies by supporting those in need, as there are many less privileged people in our communities,” he said.
Chikadza stressed that the youth are the future leaders of the Church. As such, they have a duty to care for the elderly and the marginalized in society.
Speaking to Umunthu FM, Senior Nursing Officer at Nkhotakota District Hospital, Chikondi Ntaja, praised the youth for their timely initiative, saying it was both necessary and impactful in maintaining cleanliness at the hospital.
Ntaja pointed out that the hospital is understaffed in the cleaning department, making it difficult to consistently keep the premises clean.
Apart from cleaning the hospital surroundings, the youth also donated water buckets.
